3/28/2023 0 Comments Dark mode high sierra![]() ![]() ![]() I recently learned that in Mojave, the dark menu bar and dock option is not available in non-dark mode. I am currently using this option on High Sierra (enabled in System Preferences in the “General” preferences pane). This option applies a dark theme to the dock, menubar, and Spotlight search. However, I have enjoyed the “Use dark menu bar and Dock” option that was introduced in Yosemite. From my experiences, I generally do not prefer dark themes. I have used dark themed websites and apps that ship with their own dark themes. ![]() Though I have not used the Dark Mode on Mojave, I have tried Linux operating systems that allow similar global dark theming. Also, the legibility of a dark font on a light background is generally superior to a light font on a dark background. Websites and web apps will also seem a little out of place, given that most of the web uses a light theme. Third-party apps that do not support Dark Mode will stand out. I think the Dark Mode will be a nice option to have, but not something that I am likely to use. Dark Mode seems to be the headline feature of the upcoming macOS 10.14 Mojave. ![]()
